Two Children Die, Two Critical After Landslide in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU – Two children were killed and two adults were injured after a landslide hit their home in Taman Elok, Jalan Bukit Nenas here, last night.

Misran Bisara, Assistant Director (Operations) of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, stated that the girl, Norain Jaziz, 11, and the boy, Isa Sabri, two, were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE).

Siti Nur, 28, who had a broken arm, and her husband Sabri Botong, 28, who had a leg injury, were both being treated at the same hospital.

“At 8.26 a.m., we received a distress call and rushed to the scene.” The landslide struck a house occupied by nine people in a family. “Five of them escaped unharmed,” he said.

The rescue operation ended at 10 pm. — Bernama
